Why Lean Six Sigma is a necessity in every industry

Companies enter the market with a dream to make it to the top, but for how long can a company sustain itself? New methods, techniques and tools dominate the market every now and then, hence it becomes a task to follow up. Social Media Marketing or Digital Marketing when was new to the market changed the wave of marketing and gave many an opportunity to prove their skills. Even though it was a new concept, every organisation welcomed it once the importance of using this marketing was noticed. Similar is the case with Lean Six Sigma, where companies have a vague idea about the concept, but refuse to implement it in the company.

There is a false notion about Lean Six SIgma wherein it is waste of money to incorporate the concept in the company, however one fails to realise that like any other department, Lean Six Sigma is a necessary method that every industry must follow in order to rectify their financial curve. Making money and enjoying the profit at the initial stage may not be the toughest task, but consistently maintaining it is a tough task. I’ll give you few points to note and justify the fact that Lean Six SIgma indeed, is a necessity in every industry

Helps to increase profit

Companies make their name based on the products and services they provide to the customers, but with changing trends and increasing demands from the customer it becomes hard to meet their expectation and achieve the set profit margin. It is now that Lean Six Sigma deployment comes to rescue as it helps to streamline the processes. It can be implemented in every department. Streamlining a process helps to complete a product or service at a faster pace without having to compromise on quality. In simple terms it helps in increasing revenue by selling, manufacturing and providing more products using less resource.

Decrease cost of production

It is understood by now how Lean Six Sigma helps in increasing profits, as it increases profit, it is obvious that the cost of production tends to decrease. By deploying this effective concept, wastes are removed from the process. Waste is an activity in a process that isn’t really required as it does not meet the specification as expected by the customer. Once the defects are reduced the process gets fixed and enables the organisation to own valuable resources.

Quality Output

No one is ready to compromise on quality, but no one is interested to maintain it as well. It becomes hard to follow up every process and see where the defect lies in. This is where a LSS consultant does his work, he focusses on achieving the highest level of quality using minimum resource. Quality control standards and practices are constantly checked and prioritised. Once the check is done, practical methods of improvement and empowering each employee begins. LSS methodology assures to achieve higher level of quality in any organisation.

Happy Customers

Every company thrives to make their customers happy and satisfied, however due to some reason often they fail to meet their customer’s’ expectations. LSS methodology aims at achieving customer satisfaction by increasing process efficiency of the processes. A better experience is provided to the customers by monitoring man hour reporting, bar coding and production scheduling. By optimizing these areas of the process, a LSS consultant will be able to achieve active employers which will help the organisation to achieve full customer satisfaction.

Standardisation

Implementation of LSS can benefit a major part of the organisation. Once the DMAIC is set in motion, all the projects will follow a standardised pattern. A problem when arises is sorted immediately with proper data to back up any decision and to make a move. A well-defined project can help in monitoring progress in a process as every stage is captured and monitored.

Standardisation is achieved on collecting accurate data, analysing every data and processes and providing timely solutions.

Besides the above mentioned points, LSS can also help the organisation in achieving Financial and Strategic benefits, empowerment of employees, program implementation, time management and reduced cycle time.

To conclude, deploying Lean Six Sigma methodology have only advantages and can take your company goals to the next level.

All questions answered about RPA!!!

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is an effective tool that can change the direction of the business. The main strength of RPA is that it improves efficiency of operations at a lower cost when compared with other automation approaches.

Define RPA

In simple words, RPA uses software known as robot to interpret the existing IT applications which enable easy transaction, data manipulation and strong communication across multiple IT systems.

A normal employee has many repetitive tasks that after a point becomes uninteresting, RPA is an extremely useful software that copies all the activities and tasks that a human can perform. With repetitive task the robots get better at their job by giving timely and accurate results. This, indeed, helps the humans to focus on other important tasks that involve reasoning, interaction with the customers and basic judgements in a workplace.

Stages/ Process of RPA

Every application comes with various stages and so does RPA:

First stage – It is a highly customized software that works only with a certain type of process. One needs to stream out the information in a process and collect data, synthesize it and put it together into a desktop. The automation begins at this stage.

Second stage – The second stage is in terms of power where a template is introduced and a specialist is appointed to design the robot to do the automation.

Third stage – The robot will carry the data from PDF document to excel and all the information will be placed batchwise in a row. After the conversion, the robot will authenticate its credentials and enter each row as an invoice carried in the web form. Fourth stage – Once the process is in motion, an email file containing attachments are scanned. The master excel sheet attachments are then extracted and moved to the new folder.

Final stage – The robot logs into the enterprise system and generate invoices reports. Once the invoices have been generated the robot sends an email to inform about task completion

RPA and Cognitive intelligence comparison

The difference between RPA and cognitive intelligence is that the former deals with simpler types of task, whereas the latter deals with reasoning and judgement with an already established context. RPA carries out the physical task of codifying rules and instructing the software to act. On the contrary, cognitive automation invades the knowledge base of a human’s attributes beyond physical ability to act.
Thus RPA is widely used in companies when compared to cognitive intelligence.

Best suitable process for RPA

The best and suitable process for RPA is where predictability and repeatable actions with IT applications take place more often. RPA helps to improve efficiency and effectiveness of services without changing the systems. RPA can help to automate processes that are: Repetitive Prone to error Involve digital data Time management

Importance of RPA

By deploying RPA, people will have more innovative work which keep their morale high. Humans will be able to improve their skill set while the robot does its job. Change in the relation between technology and humans will make the future better for all. Introducing this software will bring in more advantages for the organisation as well as the employees.

Change is the new constant

Change has never been easy, but it has benefited most companies in their financial graphs. All want to shape a future with less defects and more profits; however is it possible after you have followed a traditional business method? Why not bring in change and then verify the result! Why not give a shot to an emerging concept that has been adopted by many top companies in the world.

A mid-level rising company may often raise questions about changes in a system or a process which can directly or indirectly cause financial hitches. The changes appear every now and then in the market, it is very important to cater for changes that may affect your business in future. There are various sectors in an organisation where change can occur, for instance, it may be in a process, a tool or system, job roles, products and services and so on. Hence any change can be tackled and new tools help one to get back on track.

Among many other tools and methods there is one such method that has not just effectively proved to be cost efficient but also a long term partner in every change. Lean and Six Sigma (LSS) is no new concept in the business world, it has revolutionized and created remarkable changes in the business for those who have shown the spirit to try something different other than the usual business tactics. A new approach can change the fate of any small or medium sized business. This concept can be used in any stage in a business, whether it is in the initial stage or at the growth stage, this particular idea can change the direction of your financial chart.

In simple words, Lean and Six Sigma is a concept which is used to maximize customer value while minimizing waste. LSS helps in creating more customer value with fewer resource. Making a business cost effective is the main focus of this concept. A lean thinker will change the focus of management and work in eliminating waste which adds zero value to a process. Whichever organisations have adopted this concept has been able to respond to changing customer specifications with high quality and low cost.

A change is not always a risk; sometimes taking risk opens up more opportunities and helps gain more profit than not taking any risk. It’s never too late to make things right and profitable for your company.
